A practical routine for familiar meals
Dinner does not need another last-minute search.
When the day runs long, even familiar meals can feel like another decision. Give them a place in the week before you reach that moment.
P03 / LOOK INSIDE
Four decisions. A more usable plan.
- CHECK: Review your calendar and usable food.
- CHOOSE: Pick familiar dinners that fit the evening.
- SHOP: Enter recipe quantities and calculate the shortfall.
- FALL BACK: Keep an easier option ready.
P04 / LOOK INSIDE
Start with what is actually there.
Look at busy evenings and nights out. Then check usable pantry, fridge and freezer quantities before planning what to buy.
Fictional example: Tuesday is a late arrival, Friday is dinner out, and four tortillas are already available.
P05 / LOOK INSIDE
Keep familiar meals ready to choose.
Build a small bank of dinners you already know. Mark the effort as Easy or Standard for your household.
The PDF starts with six meals; the XLSX has space for twelve. Your own recipes provide the ingredients and instructions.
P06 / LOOK INSIDE
Easy nights are part of the plan.
Give each of the seven nights a dinner and a backup. Repeats, ready meals and nights out can all fit.
Fictional week: bean tacos repeat on Monday and Thursday; Friday is dinner with friends. Soup and toast is an easier backup.
P07 / LOOK INSIDE
See what is still needed.
Enter totals from your own recipes and the usable amount you already have. The spreadsheet calculates shortfalls and rounds up to whole packs.
Fictional tortilla example: need 12, have 4, shortfall 8, pack size 6, buy 2 packs.
8 ÷ 6 = 1.33 packs, rounded up to 2. Those packs contain 12 tortillas; four remain after covering the shortfall. Use the same unit throughout each row.
P08 / LOOK INSIDE
Unknown is not zero.
Blank pantry stock means you have not confirmed the amount. The real example displays Add inputs and Check inputs.
In a separate demonstration copy, entering a confirmed 0 changes the same vegetable row to a 700g shortfall and 2 packs of 500g.
P09 / LOOK INSIDE
Choose the backup before the plan changes.
Fictional rule: “If I get home later than planned, I switch to soup and toast.”
Keep two usable backup options and a clear switch rule. The printable decision card helps you check what needs updating.
Follow ingredient storage guidance when adjusting later meals.
P10 / LOOK INSIDE
A practical pause at the kitchen counter.
Check the week, consult your own recipes and choose a backup. The kit gives those decisions somewhere to live.
